November update

Been having some issues with the insomnia and I have been working on managing it. So far with the day light savings time switch it has helped me a lot.
Also my new phone has come in and as this one is a flag ship device it should keep up with my heavy usage of gaming and VR which had been taxing my Nexus 5x to the point of freezing. The new phone is the Pixel XL and I'm loving it. It is slightly bigger but so much nicer. Let's see how 4GB does ;)

insomnia night

It is an odd occurrence but about once a month I have an evening of insomnia and I will be so wired that I can sleep and yet still be as Unproductive as if I was sleeping any way.
I think what it comes down to is my body trying to reset the sleep cycle that is all out of balance because of the hours that I work which pushed my whole day back. Hopefully I will be able to get some more normal shift hours and have a bit of a social life too.
Till next time,
Stay classy my friends.

Gardening again

Since this is the first year in almost a decade that I am not working at the summer camp and my roommate didn't have a garden in his yard I decided to install one in the dead corner or the yard. He thinks that the corner was were the previous owner had a swimming pool which would probably explain why nothing seemed to have been growing there.

Unfortunately I didn't take a pic of the yard before I put in the edgeing and the mulch but oops, some things should be left forgotten.

Why Do We Need a Livingroom, Conservatory, or Lounge?

Recently my housemate had gotten around with a friend to firm up the ceiling in the living room as there was something wrong with it that made the floor upstairs creek more than is expected in an older house. They did some nice work with adding new beams but in order to work in there properly they had to remove all the furniture and place it all in the dining room.

Blackberry Priv: the hunt for the physical keyboard

Recently i did a post about the Blackberry Classic which runs the Blackberry10 operating system and I do believe that the phone is utterly dead and a expensive paperweight. I have been looking at the Blackberry Priv which is currently the only modern Android cell phone that has a physical keyboard.

it is common knowledge that the Priv isn't selling that well and I think that the problem is brand recognition and that the company has not done anything to really inform the public that blackberry is still a primo and not obselete choice in the smart phone market.

Blackberry 10 One Month of Thoughts

As many have said before BB10 is essentially dead and gone just like Palms WebOS.

My roommate let me barrow his old work phone the BlackBerry Classic so that I didn't have to swap my Verizon sim from my families plan with my Project Fi sim in and out of my Nexus 5x. My first week with it I. Noticed that the bbworld app store looked a little sparse of official native apps from Google, facebook, instagram and other popular and commonly used apps. However there were tons of options to choose from for paid third party developers that looked sketchy at best. I will say is that I have never had any sort of BlackBerry before and the ecosystem of BlackBerry apps had much to be desired and was informed I could do other apk files from android on it. Only problem was the ones I needed such as Hangouts to access my project fi account were not supported due to the dependency on play services.

My only issue was app support on BlackBerry was and is dieing off. I did see in an article that the latest app to stop BlackBerry support is whatsapp messenger will be ending it's support later this month.

The one feature that I was excited to use again on any sort of device was the physical keyboard. It took me a long time to say goodbye to it when I had no more boarded options from the Verizon store at home and I needed a new phone. Typing on it is so much faster that using the swipe keyboard on the android though it took me a bit of time to retrain my hands to type again. The only drawback is that it is a two handed type on BlackBerry keyboard and I can't walk have a coffee and type on the same time #americanprobs.

I do hope that the BlackBerry Priv takes off because I would love to have a phone with a physical keyboard again and who knows maybe there is a chance that other makers will go back to it. (I still try to use my old android phone with keyboard when I can).

PS on the crack berry forums I did find a pc program that allows you to patch any android app including hangouts, inbox and other play services dependant apps. It will take a bit to set up but getting apps are a breeze after.
